What is EXIF Data?

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is a standard that specifies the format for images and sound files. It contains metadata about the image including:

  • Image Settings: ISO, aperture, shutter speed, focal length
  • Date and Time: When the photo was taken
  • GPS Location: Latitude, longitude, altitude
  • Image Dimensions: Width and height in pixels
  • Orientation: How the image should be displayed

Privacy Concerns

EXIF data can reveal sensitive information such as:

  • Your GPS location (where the photo was taken)
  • Camera model and settings
